Final Year of College in Song

IT’S FREAKING OVERRRRRRRR!!

This is a long time coming, and it’s finally here! I GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE!!! If you don’t know, I went to school in East Tennessee and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Interior Architecture.

I have been in school for what feels like forever, and I finally feel like I can breathe a little. Yes, I have the stresses that come with being an adult (and balancing 3 jobs… we’ll talk about that later). Still, I am so incredibly content with life at the moment. I enjoy working hard and making money, but I love the fact that my time away from work can be focused on things I love, such as Simply Jamilah, instead of school work.

In fact, the first piece of content I made was a speech I would’ve said at graduation if A) I qualified B) I didn’t have to be filtered and C) More than two people could speak at graduation (because from what I remember, only two people spoke):

Though I spent the year finishing college virtually, COVID didn’t stop graduation from happening in-person, and for that, I am grateful.

Now, for my senior year of college in song:

when I taught college freshmen…

when I realized I am actually a sad human…

when The Great Flood of Christmas Eve happened…

when I left the basement bedroom…

when I had an intense crush most of the year…

when I quit my retail job of almost 3 years…

when I had to take 5-hour road trips for a 2.5-hour class on campus…

** Jack Harlow is the only person to get me through those trips.

when I met a dope individual two months before I said goodbye to the university forever…

** His biggest flex is Nicki Minaj follows him on Twitter.

when I picked up my regalia…

when I realized I was graduating cum laude…

when I fell asleep at graduation…

** But it’s school instead of a girl.

when I finally reached freedom…

Now that college is done, it’s time for life to begin.

I’m nervous. Scared. Most importantly: excited.
