Yes, another one.
However, the new logo is not an obvious change. You don’t see it at the top of any page or the bottom of any writing.
The new logo is a secondary logo that only appears at the top of the webpage, if you add the site to your favorites/bookmarks/phone’s home page, and/or if you get new writing notifications via WordPress.
The new logo combines the lowercase “s” and “j” as the “j” seems to fade away. It looks like this [drumroll please]:
I wanted to write about it because some serious thought was put into it as I stared at the blank Adobe Illustrator canvas.
The combination of the two letters makes it look like a body that’s sitting and has abnormally long arms. Well, I’m a human with abnormally long arms (I’m 5’6″ with a wingspan of approximately 6’3″), and people don’t notice until I point it out. Just like the logo, I never know what to do with my ape-like arms (as someone once called them).
Although, it could also be someone sitting and typing, which is what I do to make this blog into what it is. Imagine I scanned my notes and shared those as blog writings. It would look something like this:
Initially, it looks like the “j” is fading away, but the “j” is actually appearing (or coming in?…not sure of the best word). It represents this blog filling me up, making me feel whole. I still have a long way to go in the journey that is my 20s and figuring out who I am, who I’m becoming, and who I’m meant to be. Through the years, I’ve been able to freely express myself on this platform, which has played a major part in me finding myself, healing from everything life’s thrown at me, and discovering a life that will only bring genuine smiles.
The new logo represents the physical aspect that comes with simply being Jamilah, and it represents all that this blog has done for me.
