By “we” I mean other women.
By “other women” I mean the few long-term female friends I have.
Hearing a couple of them consistently talk about celebrity men they would do unspeakable things to definitely inspired this writing. Once upon a time, I had massive crushes on celebrity men; for the longest time, I was like every other girl and harbored an intense, massive crush on Channing Tatum. Like, part of the reason I was such a huge advocate for the Step Up franchise being good is because of Channing Tatum in the first one.
Of course, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized the best one is actually Step Up 3D, and my massive crush switched to Adam G. Sevani. Now that I think about it, my slight preference of guys with curly shoulder-length hair probably started with my crush on Adam G. Sevani. There was a period of time where I would skip through Step Up Revolution just to watch him flip onto the screen at the end.
Any who…
Before I continue to expose my journey with intense celebrity crushes, I wanted to anonymously share my friends’ responses. I asked them “If your current boyfriend was out of the picture, what is one male musician you would spend the rest of your life with and why?” This is what they said.
Friend #1: “Jackman Thomas Harlow *insert crying laughing emoji* Or, Christopher Brent Wood” (I asked her why, but she has yet to read that text…)
Friend #2: “I’m gonna say Chris Stapleton because first I love a beard. But also it’s some of the only modern ‘country’ music I enjoy, and I never really see him for anything bad in the media that I know of. I think he keeps a pretty low profile.”
Friend #3: “If Jimmy Buffett was still alive, I would choose him lol. I would love to live the parrot head lifestyle and never have to work again, and he was also at least a democrat… I think maybe I’d choose Jack Antonoff. He’s very cute in a weird offbeat kind of way and extremely talented, and Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey and Lorde love him so clearly he’s a ‘written by a woman’ type of man. Plus, I would by association also be close with them so it’s checking every box for me.”
Friend #4: “The first one(s) that came to mind were Silk Sonic. The vibe of their music is so versatile especially when you look at Bruno and Anderson separately so I feel like they would just always have me in a good mood. Also sing me to sleep? Lmaooo. My other thought was obviously Jack Harlow, my husband, but since we already go together, I thought I’d switch it up… He’s super funny, and I feel like we’d always be cracking up so that would be my reason for him besides us being married.”
Friend #5: “After much thinking, there no musician I can think of that I would like to spend the rest of my life with. Over the years, I’ve become very weary of public figures. Time and time again public figures like musicians have been found out to have skeletons in their closets. This is not a generalization, just an observation. I tend to not put public figures on pedestals anymore because they end up needing to be on a plank instead. I don’t have any musician I would like to spend the rest of my life with because I don’t really know any of them.”
Friend #6: “If they can be dead, Tupac. For sure. Not only was he beautiful outside, he was powerful too & I feel like, together, we can change the world for sure! Also, he’s an underdog from a poor city who got his voice heard, much like myself and I respect that.”
I feel like now would be the time I share mine, but I was literally hurting my brain trying to think of a male musician I’m incredibly attracted to. Like, I was low key getting a bit of a headache (but that could be the dehydration speaking; we don’t talk about her).
Honestly, I can wholeheartedly say I do not have an answer. The only male musicians on my mind have been AJR, but that’s because their new album comes out in a little over a month. I guess I could say my favorite brother of the trio is Ryan.
