Y’all… I finally made a trailer for the podcast.

Of course, the version on all audio platforms is strictly audio.

If you did not know, The Simply Jamilah Podcast is a verbal extension of this blog. I started by uploading MP3 audio clips onto this blog yeeears ago (okay, that’s me being dramatic). Originally, it was called Simply Special because I simply (hehehe) love alliteration.

After no more than fifteen episodes, I realized I enjoy talking into a microphone with about three people listening and took the makeshift podcast from the blog to AnchorFM, and, as they say, the rest was history.

Over the years, the cover has changed as the brand has evolved, and my child has still remained a beautiful baby. Not many people listen to my podcast, and I am at peace with this knowledge. When I randomly decide to check the analytics, I’ll see the smallest uptick in listens and keep trucking with a smile on my face.

“Becoming an adult while existing as a Black, American woman in the 21st century is not an easy task, and the best way I deal with it is by talking into a microphone. With random tangents, anecdotes, and grammatically questionable sentences, I talk about anything and everything that pops into my mind while accomplishing the day-to-day task of being a woman in this confusing, evolving, scary lifetime.”

More than anything, I talk into a microphone like it’s my diary or like I’m speaking to the therapist I no longer have, and instead of deleting my voice, I share it on the internet—make it known.

I’ve never really shared the story of the podcast, so instead of making a five-minute episode for a simple story, I wanted to show her some love on here.
