The Synopsis
In the final book of Lucy Score’s Knockemout series, Sloane Walton loses her precious father to illness. Since Mr. Walton saved his life, Lucian Rollins has done everything he can for the Walton family, including keeping a secretive eye on Sloane—his only love. They say they hate each other, but it’s not long before the hate turns to lust and, eventually, a twisted version of love.
This seems to be everyone’s favorite out of the Knockemout series.
The Good
My favorite moment is Lucian and Sloane calling themselves out for being a “grumpy-sunshine” love story because that was one hundred percent what this book was. No confusion there.
I like the nod to the previous two books in the Knockemout series when Lucian says, “‘There are some things we never get over. Some things we hide from the light'” on page 194.
A super small side character named Mrs. Clawser has a hot flash fan, and something about that small detail is so hilariously iconic to me.
The Bad
There are moments of complete immaturity where you forget these characters are in their 40s or close to it.
The initial sex scene is so random and just like… what the heck? I semi-understand the reasoning behind it, but I’m definitely not a fan.
I don’t feel like the character development with Lucian was the best. It wasn’t progressive, more like he did a random 180.
Considering Anthony Hugo, our antagonist, is prominent in the entire Knockemout series, his takedown was disappointing and felt rushed.
The Overall
I got 130 pages in and found nothing about this book interesting. Like, I was just very bored while reading it.
Next book to be read and reviewed: The Fine Print by Lauren Asher
“‘You only get to be a victim for so long before you have to evolve into a survivor.'”
