The Synopsis

After meeting her new boss, Zahra drunkenly submits a proposal criticizing Dreamland’s most expensive ride, thinking she would be fired. Instead, Rowan Kane, her new boss, gives her a promotion. The more time they spend together, the closer they become, and Rowan realizes just how special Zahra is.

The Good

I am OBSESSED with the first page of each chapter. Oh my goodness, Lauren Asher did THAT. This element alone makes it hard to put the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed the pacing of this book; nothing about it felt rushed.

I like that the deceased grandfather is definitely playing matchmaker/fairy godfather to ensure all his grandsons fall in love.

There are so many things I love about this book. I love the parallels between Pride and Prejudice and the love story of Rowan and Zahra. I also love that Rowan fights for Zahra instead of cowering away when she gets pissed at him for pretending to be someone else; it shows his character development because I truly thought he would give up.

Furthermore, I love that they dressed up like Beauty and the Beast for their first date. I’m not sure if it’s intentional, but it’s the vibe I got.

I also loved the disability and Down’s syndrome representation.

The unexpected plot twist of Zahra being on the voting committee for Rowan’s project after Rowan broke her heart was WILD… but I was here for it.

The Bad

Dirty talk does such a quick job of ruining any intimate moment.

Breaking her heart in a hospital for the third act break up was ruthless.

I start to get turned off when the FMC is talked about as if she is an object, even if she’s talking about herself.

The Overall

Considering all the conversations they were having in her cubicle, why didn’t any coworkers question their relationship? The walls of a standard cubicle are not that high and are not soundproof.

Nevertheless, I loved this book.

This was an addicting read that had me giggling and kicking my feet. I would definitely read this book again in a heartbeat.
