In an effort to not succumb to the slump July tends to put me in, I made sure to make the first day of the month packed with a busy schedule. The schedule included a meeting with a student, getting my hair braided, and seeing how Clover reacts to fireworks (spoiler alert: not well; she’s never hopped in my car so quick).
To conquer these tasks and feel comfortable in my own skin, this is the outfit I wore:

Details:
Cropped white tank shirt: Rue 21
Brown corduroy skirt: Walmart
Black sandals with white buckles: hand-me-downs
Pack of silver earrings: Azazie (I needed to add $10 to an order to get free shipping, so I added this pack of earrings to wear in my many holes).
Now, was I anticipating seeing so many students while wearing this outfit? No. I also didn’t account for how much younger and child-like I look when my hair is braided, especially since my two grays are covered.
Though my mental health seems to be at its worse during this time of the year, showing some skin tends to make me feel better mentally. If that’s unprofessional, though I’m technically unemployed right now, then so be it.
